The short version of South America's most famous trek. The trail starts at “KM 104” of the Inca Trail and ends at the site of Machu Picchu. From there we take the bus to Agua Calientes (who feels like walking more: 1 hour downhill walking) where we stay overnight. The following day we visit Machu Piccchu and in the afternoon we take the train back to Cusco.

Reservations: Since 2016 there are 300 more spaces available on the 2-day trek to Machu Picchu (on top of the 4-day 500 participants). For this reason it is easier to get one of the free spaces on short note for the 2-day trail.
It is not allowed to hike the Inca Trail without official guidance.
